JOB TITLE: Weatherization Assistant
Job Summary: This position is a field technician on Weatherization and will work closely in our northern territories of Stephenson and Jo Daviess Counties. The individual will be responsible for performing key weatherization production tasks, such as conducting home energy assessments, home inspections, customer management system file entry, and communicating with Clients, and Contractors.
Training Provided. Must be willing to complete state-required training within 12 months of hire.
Qualifications:
Perform assessments and inspections of dwellings involved in the Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program (IHWAP). Responsibilities include completing, organizing, and maintaining general information files, applicant files, contractor files, program forms, and records. Accurately input program information into various computer systems, including all dwelling information on the Whole House Energy Audit and client data on reporting screens. Monitor construction phases to ensure compliance with construction methods, materials, and specifications; note any alterations, additions, or deletions necessary for the project; prepare payment requests and collect the required documentation to process contractor payments after project completion. Coordinate and conduct final inspections for homes assessed by the incumbent as well as those assessed by other inspectors. Travel is required approximately 90% of the time to attend meetings, trainings, and visit work sites. A valid driver’s license, dependable vehicle, and proof of insurance are required. The position also requires the ability to move about the office to deliver program services, meet with customers and visitors, and operate standard office equipment, as well as the physical ability to navigate job sites, including attics and crawlspaces, during home assessments.
