Weatherization Specialist Kankakee, IL

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: 

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Weatherization Coordinator is responsible for the planning, grant preparation, program implementation, documentation, reporting and all other duties for the agency’s Weatherization component

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Administers and implements home energy conservation programs
  • Develops program plans and objectives
  • Assists the fiscal department with the budget process and programmatic accounts payable
  • Supervises personnel to make certain that record keeping, filing, reporting, and client eligibility comply with grant guidelines; ensures regulations are followed within the scope of the program’s guidelines
  • Conducts ongoing training for program staff
  • Supervises the preparation of bids and opening thereof in compliance with federal and Kankakee County Community Services, Inc. purchasing guidelines
  • Supervises staff and subcontractors to make certain that all construction is done correctly within the scope of the program guideline
  • Assists in facilitating energy awareness workshops and training sessions conducted for the eligible, target population for the purpose of energy conservation education and energy assistance
  • Identifies isolated, homebound, elderly, and handicapped individuals who are not generally informed of service opportunities

Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum four years college degree preferred or extensive experience in housing construction, various trade experience, and related fields

  • Must have required certifications: Energy Auditing, Quality Control Inspection, and TCP
  • Must have strong organizational and computer skills
  • Must have the ability to articulate and present a positive image that reflects the mission of KCCSI. He/She must be able to interact with a variety of people ranging from vendors, community leaders and employers.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • It is necessary that the individual have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and be willing to work with tight deadlines. This includes the ability to be flexible and capable of multi-tasking and being prepared to work long hours if needed and travel as necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift 50+lbs, stand/bend/move for extended periods of time

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Duties are mostly performed in the field in via homes to which work is being performed on such as in attics, crawl spaces and other home spaces to meet the success of the program. Duties are also performed in a normal office environment and travel is required for off-site presentations, visits to other site locations, annual conferences, etc.

EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, AND MATERIALS UTILIZED:

  • Office equipment such as a computer, copier, fax machine, telephone and scanner
  • Construction equipment such as drill, scope, blower door

Salary Range: $70,000-$75,000
