JOB TITLE: HUD Certified Housing Advocate
Job Summary: The Housing Advocate reports to the Housing Coordinator. The Housing Advocate’s goal is to provide aspiring home buyers with the skills, knowledge, and information to buy and maintain a home, and to help homeowners facing mortgage delinquency and foreclosure restructure their mortgage debt and rental housing needs. Must have excellent math, verbal, and written communication skills. Must be analytical, self-motivated, confidently exercise independent judgment, and have a strong desire to make a difference in low to moderate-income communities.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with the service delivery functions of the agency
- Housing counseling services (includes pre-purchase, rental, credit counseling, reverse mortgage and default foreclosure)
- Case management for all applicable funding sources such as rent, mortgage, water etc.
- Schedule and conduct home buyer education and financial education workshops
- Outreach activities
- Assist with gathering of grant application supporting documentation and reporting
- Develop home ownership or rental action plans that assist customers in obtaining or preserving housing
- File Development and Maintenance/Accounts Payable
- Work with customers to achieve their goals
- Information/outreach/referral
- Conduct and record follow up actions for customers
- Perform special assignments and projects as needed and/or assigned by management
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary
