The Illinois Association for Community Action Agencies announced today that Arturo Puckerin has been appointed new President & CEO of the company. An experienced Community Action leader, Puckerin will succeed the interim President & CEO, John Edwards, Jr. and assume responsibilities in December 2022.
Arturo Puckerin comes to IACAA with nearly a decade in Community Action and affordable housing experience, and is excited to continue developing economic and social opportunities in Illinois that help the most economically disadvantaged citizens access resources they need to pursue those opportunities and become more self-sufficient.
“The Board was looking for a President & CEO with not for profit experience and an understanding of how society should address the root causes of poverty,” said Dalitso Sulamoyo, Ph.D., IACAA Board Chair. “Arturo is someone who brings passion, experience and an innovative approach to leading the Illinois Association of Community Action Agencies. He not only has the not for profit experience the Board was looking for, but he brings Community Action experience which we found to be a critical asset at this juncture for the Association.”
Born in Brooklyn, New York to a military home, Puckerin carries a personal and professional passion for organizational development and community engagement. Puckerin strongly subscribes to the design and delivery of human services that heighten self-sufficiency and social capacity through community action.
IACAA is proud to welcome Puckerin to the Illinois Poverty Fighting Network.
Congratulations Arturo! I’m looking forward to your accomplishments in your new endeavor.
